turbo trouble

Hello my 2011 550 has 24000 kms and has had 2 turbo failures.I thought it mite have had to do with the dpf being restrictive but my friend just had one fail at 35000kms but his is strait piped with h&s tune on no power.The dealer cant give any explanation,just wondering if any one may have any info on this.I know some times turbos just fail.But this seems excessive

Adding mine to your list. 34K, stock. Mine came as Cab/Chassis so it has the smaller turbo. The mechanic told me this the 3rd small turbo he has changed and he has only changed one of the big turbos.

Not sure if anyone else is watching this thread, but mine is back in the shop now for it's 3rd turbo failure. At 77K miles and still completely Stock, and well maintained.

I cannot honestly tell you how many turbos we have had replaced on the 8 2011-2012 F550 trucks at work....
We honestly have atleast one a month fail.. We have had the updated turbo and software installed... they still break.. just one more part in an increasing list....

My Company has 8 C&Cs and we have replaced 3 turbos in the last 11 months. Had another one towed due to plugged DPF filter. The fins on the turbo break and you are on the side of the road calling roadside assistance!!

Ya lost one at 25000 and now lost one today at 39000miles. So pissed but what can we do besides setting around waiting on them to change them out.

What I have been doing is buying Ram 5500's I was told a year ago that Ford had a new turbo design; instead I get a software update that doesn't help.

I just e-mailed my customer care rep yesterday and let him know my feelings.
