How long can I drive with a stuck open injector?

I drove about 70 miles with a stuck open injector pulling 5K lb. trailer. It was smoking like hell but I had to drive it. I had a new injector put in it and it runs fine no knocking. The mechanic fears I damaged the piston but the compression is OK. Do you think it is OK?

All you can do is cross your fingers unless you want to break down the engine to find out. If everything sounds normal, I would just keep on truckin!

Wouldn't that piston have been hot? If you can get it under warranty, I'd get them to 'fix' it.

...which would most likely be out of warranty...or it would be voided for the repair based on his list of mods.

I don't see why you "had to drive it" but That's not a good idea. Sounds like you got lucky.

The oil would likely have been contaminated and should be changed.
