Driving fine .. then Blammo
So Yesterday I was driving home on a pretty good high from having a GREAT day. I came off the freeway and turned up a slight hill. Touched the gas to accelerate .. no dice .. truck almost died and crawled up the hill. refused to go more than 30 mph and was extremely sluggish. Thankfully I was 3 blocks from my buddies house ( the service manager for the dealership where I bought my truck ) so I went right to his house to show him what it was doing. ( just in case it was one of those issues i could not reproduce ) At this point there was no check engine light and everything else was completely normal. He asked me to shut off the truck and start it back up... problem solved. We went for a drive, within 2 minutes, the problem was back and then the check engine light came on. so I gimped it to his house and called the wrecker. Truck had a very distinct burnt smell to it when I got out. Almost smelled like an electrical fire.
Anyone else having this same type of issue ? 2011 F250 supercab 6.7 no mods 2,100 miles |

I had an issue with no boost, which caused the truck to be extremely sluggish but was cured with a key cycle. Let us know what you find!

SO, just got back from the dealer and it seems the Harness for the EGR was installed without a grommet. A " known " issue according to the mechanic. The wires chafed on the firewall causing them to obviously short and this short subsequently caused 2 injectors to fail.
When I asked why it was not repaired before I picked up the truck his response was " THEY ARE JUST WAITING FOR THEM TO BREAK BEFORE THEY FIX THEM " a major disappointment to hear that from the tech. The fact that Ford would know about an issue that COULD cause someone to be wrecked into, or wreck trying to get out of the way of other people on the road is disappointing. I love my Ford, I loved my last Ford, but Detroit leaves me scratching my head at times. Issue resolved and the truck is running fine now. |

Say ROTTI
Could you tell us where this harness is so I and others could inspect and install some type of grommet so this don't happen to us, Thanks BOB

give it some time. it usually takes a while for ford to recognize a pattern failure and figure out how to handle it

My F250 has started something similar to what you described. However, it is still in the Ford dealer's shop with them still searching for the problem. My issue started with a downshift situation, dropping from 3rd to 2nd or 4th to 3rd. The motor would completely hesitate for half a second (with no apparent power) then pick right back up. This would happen during those undesirable times when rolling toward a left or right turns into traffic. Then, starting a couple of weeks ago, instead of powering right back up after the hesitation, it would have almost no engine power at all and run rather rough. However, unlike your situation, there has never been an engine warning light or communication. But, just like yours, pull over and shut everything down for a few seconds the truck starts back up with no apparent issues until the next time. I have just over 4000 miles on the vehicle in normal good weather environments. It concerns me that the dealer has not been able to located the problem yet.
