VGT solenoid or dirty turbo?

Has anyone had this problem? I got a P2073 code a while back so I cleaned my MAF and it went away after resetting it a couple of times. Now the truck feels sluggish and the turbo or exhaust sound of a jet taking off does not sound as loud. Not to mention when I get on the truck from a slow roll it starts putting black smoke out but the truck takes a while to react before is starts moving. Seem like the throttle response is very slow more so like when it was stock. Im thinking the turbo vains are sticking or the actuator is not working properlly. The same thing happens when I'm driving say at 70-75 and I get on WOT the truck takes a while before it down shifts and when it does it seems like it missing power and again it starts putting out black smoke a while before it reacts. I dont have any codes but I know the truck is not running at 100% it's not as peppy as it was. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Spartan suggested changing out the fuel filters. I took a 4500 mile trip to Cali and I might have gotten bad fuel along the way. Filters are on there way.
