Truck been at the dealership for the last 2 weeks
My truck has a clanging noise coming from under the hood and the check engine light keeps coming on. I picked my new truck up on the 7th of April in Knoxville TN with 24 miles on the odometer. Two days later I brought it into Dewey Ford in Des Moine IA with the check engine light on. They contacted Ford and I was told that, because my trailer was heavier than the 15,800 lbs that my truck is rated for, I could expect it to turn the check engine light on. Since then I have had it into Carstairs Ford AB. The first time they told me to work the truck harder - don't baby it. So I went away, and then thought "this is insane - a new truck shouldn't be doing this". I brought it back and they tried reflashing the computer. That improved the shifting but the clanging continued to get worse and the check engine light comes on regularly. I brought the truck in to the dealer on May 17 (over 2 weeks ago) and they did certain tests prescribed by Ford. Ford now says they are aware of the problem. So the truck is sitting at the dealership and the dealer is waiting for instructions from Ford. So what do I do - go pick the thing up and drive it till they phone me? or leave it there and continue to use my old GM?
