Spyder Auto Projector???

Anyone running these? Are the true Projectors? Says to run H1 for highs and 9006 for lows. Don't want recon so if been looking around. Not to keen on baking my headlights open either lol

Thanks in advance

I have them and am disappointed in them, I plan to replace the bulbs soon and that fixes them.

I was debating between Spyder and Recon, but decided with Recon which was a mistake. I would assume they are the same quality, but Recon is more expensive. Either way, they are both halogen projectors, so installing an aftermarket HID kit will improve their performance. Also, Recon's LEDs are replaceable and Spyder's are not. It didn't matter for me in the end because I diconnected the Recon LEDs anyway due to their purple-ish colored hue when lit. I would have got the Spyder's with CCFL halos, instead of the Recon's with CCFL halos if I could do it over again.

I had the same dilemma, I wanted the projector lights and really wanted to go with Spyder over Recon, mainly because of issues with Recon in the past. However the Spyder projectors weren't in production yet, and so went with Recon. Only problem I've had is the halos and LEDs on the right side light keep failing, already changed the solenoid twice. The left side is the original, no problems.

Yeah. I disconnected all the LED's. They looked blue+purple while the halos are white. One of my CCFL halos goes out about 15% of the time. I haven't taken a peak what's causing it yet..

Yeah. They have projector low-beams with halogen bulbs, reflector hi-beams with halogen bulbs. You'll have a projector line and they look like a crystal ball, but they're not much brighter than standard lights. I recommend you buy an aftermarket HID kit to replace the halogen bulb that lights up the projector.

they have real projectors, but they are a low quality halogen projector. and yes there is a difference between halogen projectors and HID projectors. they are not meant to have HID'S in them, you can but you'd be better off doing a simple HID projector retrofit like these Bi-xenon FX-R Stage III Kit

Rule of thumb, if your projector takes anything but a D2S,D4S, or the rare D1S bulb. it is not a REAL HID projector and should not have HID's installed in them. the optics will be off and light out put half assed. and/ or melt the housing.
