Platinum Tailgate - Can silver cover be removed?

Like the body colored bumpers etc. but not crazy about the silver cover they put on the tailgate with this package. Is tailgate underneath basically the same as the Lariat? Can it be removed or is it fastened on with screws etc? Anyone have a sense?

Wow. Good way to lighten up the truck. Scratch that idea.

Sucks platinums arent available without that. Only looks ok on silver just cause it blends in. Are king ranches also only available in two tone? Not a fan of a lot of those either. Seems like both those things should be options.

Check in your area, I'm sure someone would love to trade tailgates with you...

You can probably have it vinyl wrapped with good results. It doesn't appear as though removing it entirely is a hole-some approach. I decided to accentuate the chrome features of the truck instead of blacking them out. I had a Chevy Tahoe which I blacked out in the past and decided to go the other way with this truck.

True. It could also probably be painted with good results. It's not an area that would receive heavy abrasion (like the front bumper/grill) so getting rock chips, etc. would be a bit more out of the question.

Also, true. I would feel more comfortable with vinyl wrapping because you can remove it later on and leave whatever's underneath the same. Who knows? You may want to change back one day or decide to sell and the person buying would rather have the original.

anybody wanting to delete their platinum gate, let me know. I'll swap you a non-platinum gate in your correct color.

The platinum gate trim is one of the thing that sets the truck off as a Platinum edition. Can't imagine wanting to get rid of it, but don't destroy it by painting it, just trade it to me
