Broken Tailgate

So I was taking my 5th wheel hitch off and thought that the hitch was above the tailgate, and it wasn't. So it popped the tailgate off of the latches and bent the studs that that latches connect to. I think the tailgate is fine, maybe a little bent at the top, but I'm fine with that. I just want it to close and not cost a lot. Before taking to the dealership today for an estimate I was wondering if anyone has ever replaced the latching mechanism on the sides of the tail gate and the studs that it hooks to on by the rear tail lights. If so was it hard to get to the parts to be replaced?

Thanks
Greg

I would just stop by a local body shop and let them look at it. The studs can be adjusted by loosening them up and sliding to the new position. The latch on the tailgate might be a different story.

Agreed on the body shop.

All else fails, if the look doesnt matter You can grab an old style tailgate pretty cheap
