Rear Tailgate Emblem Removal?

Anyone done it? Any special tricks or hidden tabs? I'm about to do my second stage of my PTM and the rear emblem is something I want to address to match my front emblem.

I can't help with the rear emblem, though I hope someone can help. I am getting ready to have mine painted as well. Did you split your front emblem apart to paint the silver FORD black or how did you do that?

Yea the emblem was split apart. When you remove it there's some little tabs on the back that you have to cut with some snip pliers and it all comes apart. After having it painted I glued it all back together. It's held up fine so far. I'm hoping when I remove the rear emblem it can be split the same way.

1) Heat Gun or Hair Dryer
2) 12lb-20lb test fishing line
3) Apply heat to the emblem and use the line like a saw behind the emblem
4) Goo Gone all the sticky crap off and it's ready for the new emblem

Getting the black adhesive off is a giant PITA though...I slapped a billet badge on mine and love the look...still haven't redone my king ranch badges for the simple reason I don't want to fight the adhesive at the moment lol

I'm not sure what year your truck is but I do know that the 2013 trucks at least with the back up camera in the emblem is not just held on by adhesive.

I don't know for sure yet but I'm hoping I can take the inside panel off the tailgate and there will be clips or screws, will see I guess
