hey guys im about to pull my headlights apart tomorrow and paint them. Has anyone painted the chrome reflective area where the light shines? I have hid's already so would painting the chrome reflective area make my light output really bad or will it still be good?
You can do it if you have projectors for your hids- which is the correct way to run hids, that's how they were designed to be utilized, not to be out in a reflector halogen set up.
If your running hid bulbs in a halogen reflector headlight, which is what most people do because their misinformed/ then no you can't paint the reflector (chrome housing ur taking about)
I did a full on hid projector retrofit, see the link in my sig for details. You might want to do as I did, it's a 200 times better than running hid bulbs in halogen reflector housings.
