2011 F250 Lariat Tailgate misaligned

I am looking at a 2011 F250 Lariat at a dealership and it looks fine except for the tailgate. When I saw the truck about two weeks ago, the rear bumper was off and one of the plastic pieces of it was sitting in the bed. There was also a dent in the right rear fender and the tailgate was shifted slightly to the right with the left side of the tailgate sticking out and not flush with the back of the fender. Fast forward 2 weeks and now the bumper is back on it with all it's pieces and the dent is gone; but the tailgate is still the same. I suspect it's been in an accident but nothing shows up on CarFax. For $40,983 I'm thinking I should pass on it - what do you all think..???

I got my 11 in September for $38k... $40k for an obviously damaged truck sounds high. How many miles?

I think I will pass on this one. It's one thing if the PO backed into a mailbox or something but it's entirely another if he plowed into something and then traded the truck in because he was unhappy with the body shop's work. There's a lot more trucks out there to get wrapped around the axle about it...
