Mirror Caps
I have a lariat with the chrome mirror caps, my uncle has an xlt with the all black mirrors. Do the xlt's caps come off or is it all one piece? He wants my chrome ones and i want his black ones so i can paint them white.
Can we just swap? and if so how do they pop off? Thanks, Matt |

I'm pretty sure I've read on here that you can adjust the mirror glass all the way to the side and look behind to see a screw that holds the cap.
Maybe someone will chime in that knows for sure, but you can try it. Good luck, Mark |

Mirrors
Tilt your mirrors down and you should see a "tab" behind the mirror on each side at the top. Use a long flathead screwdriver to press the tab to release it. Be patient as it takes a little work and it looks like the tabs could break if your not careful.

just check the mirrors again on my 2010 XLT, the top cap isnt a seperate piece from the lower portion. but if you till the mirror down you can see two tabs. I used a screw driver and unhooked the tabs and the cap didnt come loose. Went to check our 2012 xlt to see if it was something different than my 2010 mirrors. They were the same way.
