painted headlights

i am looking to do this to my truck and wanted to know to things
1 is it easy to seperate the outer peice of the light

2 how so i prep them should i scotch brite than prime sand and paint or what

any info would be great

google it I am doing mine soon, Pre-heat an oven to 250 set the lights one at a time on a cookie sheet..set them on cardboard so they dont melt....I would scotch bright them myself so the paint sticks
