2012 stainless fender trim
I got my new regular cab Wednesday and had stainless fender trim put on and I really like it but in some spots it bubbled out away from the fender. I took it back to the dealer to see what they would do about it and they wanted to charge me $250 to put double stick tape on it. So I told them I could do it myself was wondering if you guys had any better ideas on how to seal it so dirt doesn't get in there and rust.
Thanks |

They want you to pay for a brand new truck you just received that has a cosmetic issue already? Was this put on at the factory? Did the dealer put it on and it is a Ford authorized part? If so, THEY need to fix it and you should not have to pay anything. Find a new dealer and complain.

Yes, it is brand new make them do it, and talk to the service manager you might get a better response.

They had to get an aftermarket stainless trim that screws on to the inside lip of the fender and has no adhesive to help the top seat to the body. The service guy says that's the way it is designed and there was nothing they could do. The sales manager called a place that specializes in trim and he said 3M double sided tape might work but they wanted to charge me. I'm gonna see if I can talk to the owner today.

Tape will not work!
my buddy got this trim on his new white Extra cab ,and the first thing i noticed was rust around those Black screws :~( it should not have buckeled, bubbled what ever, his is nice and straight they did not install it correctly or it would be smooth.... you have to put the screws in at the correct angle or it will buckle! if it was mine i would take that crap off and fix the screw holes and install pocket flares to cover up their fork Up! If you plan to keep them best thing to do is take each screw out one at a time and put grease on the screw and in the Holes to stop rust ,Cause it's coming believe me! my Buddy has a nice truck but the fender stainless dress-up is Crap! |
