Tailgate changes

What year tailgates look the same as the 2011 tailgates? Some idiot stole my tailgate and I want to replace it for cheap.

Can you add the camera step and pole to a older model tailgate?

2008 started the new tailgates. You can get one with a step. The camera is built into the handle. If your truck didn't come with one you will need to do some wiring. I did this on my 2000. Added the '08 tailgate and rear view mirror w/ video screen.

I have the mirror on my 2011. So the 2008 looks exactly and works exactly the same?

They should. Did your '11 have the camera in the handle? If so, you should be able to get a new camera and plug it in.

Yep, 08-up are identical.

It did have the camera. So I guess the step and pole were all available from 08 and up as well? Also the plastic molding on the tailgate is all the same?

It is ALL the same. I have an 08 gate on my 05 with the step, the grab bar, and camera.

You wouldn't know the difference between the 08 gate and an 11 gate.

Ended up with a 2010. It's at the paint shop now also getting new molding and bedlining the pole. Thanks for the help ya'll.

Did your missing tail gate come with a lock on the handle? Was it locked?
