Shorter Antenna

Has anyone replaced their AM/FM antenna with a shorter one? Do you think you could cut a couple inches off the top of it and just put a new cap on top?

My truck will fit in the garage but the antenna smacks the garage door and makes a horrible noise every time I come and go. If I could trim it I would be golden.

I have a stubby antenna. I'll see if I can find the pics. I think it was only about $35, but that was quite a while ago.

I cut mine off so it is one inch higher then the rest of my truck so that if I am going into someplace tight and it touches then I know I need to stop and make sure I'm not getting into a bind.
