Sounds to me like they owe you a new front bumper. Tarnish is one thing but rust? C'mon. There's a rust clause in the warranty. Look into it and tell the dealer what's up. Let us know what happens.

I wish I could say that dealerships treated all customers the same but that just isn't the case. With regards to your bumper and people having warranty issues with the water in fuel which in turn can destroy fuel pumps and motors . . . you just have to keep on them and in some cases go to another dealership or straight to Ford Corporate.

What most of these companies are trying to do is put some responsibility back into the hands of the customer. While I agree completely with that concept the majority of us buy new vehicles with warranties expecting a no hassle approach when we have a problem b/c we spent so much money on our vehicle in the first place.

Good luck

The vehicle is warrantied to be free of rust for a certain amount of time. I just can't remember how long it is. The only thing that should be needed to prevent rust is the occasional wash. No "magical" metal treatment. You get rust off by treating it with something, you can't prevent it any way other than painting it, and plus, chrome is not supposed to rust.

See this a lot at the dealership...usually what it ends up being is road debris/brake dust/ or fall out as they call it stuck to the chrome that starts to rust. It comes right off with a bit of chrome polish. Same deal with the little rust spots you see on a white truck, they clay bar right off.

If it's surface garbage rusting, then the dealership would be well advised to show you how to clean it...if it's real cancer rust, then that's what the bumper to bumper warranty is for.

I'm pretty sure there is a TSB for that. The dealer has to put some special clear coat on it or something.
