I've done it in my '01 - I got the 'fast-flash' because they don't have the same load as a regular bulb.
I changed my flasher unit to an electronic flasher because it isn't load dependent. There are load resistors you can put in to add load so your regular flasher would work correctly.
I don't know if there is an electronic flasher for the 6.7 yet.
