Paint

Oh gees, took my truck in for detailing, 2012 f 350. After detailing on passenger side around rear passenger window and along bed I noticed What I call orange peel, finish is smooth but looks like base coat is wavy. I am dreading to know whats going to be done to fix this? Ideas on what Fords going to have to do? Heads up on what Fords going to try to deny?

If it is the base coat that is "orange peeled" and not the clear it needs to be re-based. It most likely is in the clear coat so a color sand and buff should fix it. Since probably 90% of vehicle made have an orange peel I doubt ford will do anything for you.

If you have a paint warranty you might be all set. But being a trained painter I was tought techniques to match the factory orange peel in clear coat. It is also hard to tell what is wrong with the paint since I cant see it and glare from pictures usually makes it had to see. If it is the base its probably the metallics mottled.

It looks more like orange peel but with more uniform pattern, close to like lines, but total diff than rest of paint. Went out to see if I could catch a picture of but with the wax and darkness it doesnt show enough to get picture. I will try again tomorrow. Mottled pictures I see looks way different being its not swirled or shaded

It is the person who buffed it when they detailed it maybe. I'd take it back and show them what the problem is.
