sound system blown

Had the truck detailed a few weeks back and right after that noticed the system sounded some what different, next day started truck and stated to hear hissing noise from tweeters, then the JL audio amp light on Model HD900/5 started to blink Yellow/ Red. brought the truck to my local sound shop and was given the bad news, Blown amp and one front and one rear tweeter blown and one drivers side door speaker ( Focal KR-2) and One rear passenger side speaker blown also (Focal KRC-2). Damn!!! The shop said that the amp was out of tune. and that's what caused the damage, well I guess when the detailer was working on the truck he must of been cleaning the amp with a cloth or something because all the settings were way off. My fault for not screwing the cover plate back on. very costly mistake .
one thing good is that JL has a flat rate on repairs for there amps. $150. plus shipping. and two-three weeks for turn around.
so I had to replace all my speakers plus changed the amp to a JL XR1000/5 &
Alpine coaxial 5x7 in fronts with JL C3 in rear. and JL tweeters All around. I'll Tell you what a big difference in sound. everything is so sharp and crisp. with that punch from the JL10" shallow sub in the rear. The amp and The Focal speakers at first cost me $3500. plus these new speakers and amp $2800. Ill have to speak to my insurance broker to see if there is anything that can be done. I know I have a rider on my policy for the upgraded stereo system for theft. we will see. Sorry for the rant I just needed to vent. OUCH!!!!

Sorry to hear this misfortune buletbob. It is a good reminder for me to be extra careful when mine gets detailed, though everything is stock. Good reminder for all. Sorry again, good luck on resolving expeditiously. TCM
