Automatic Headlamps

This is my first post so I hope nobody minds me jumping in and asking questions cause I have a few. Been lurking and have found several answers already so for that, thank you all.

First one, I have a 2013 XLT that does not have the Auto Headlamps. My questions is the only way to get there to purchase the fog lamp kit, install in and they have a Ford dealer program? Or is there a kit just with the auto headlamp and minus the fog lamps?

I am stunned that any vehicle comes without autos in the first place but thats a conversation for another day.

Thanks for your time.

Paul

The wiring going to and from the BCM may or may not be pre-wired. Your steering column control module may have to be upgraded, you'll have to see if #17 has anything in it. Don't forget the auto-lamp sensor in the dash that triggers the on/off cycle. I would suggest getting the factory wiring manual to make this upgrade. It can be done hardware wise, but you'll have to find out if it requires a dealer visit to get the vehicle to respond.

I had the same issue on my '02. It was an XLT and I was trying to figure out how to make the auto headlamp upgrade. I "borrowed" the headlight switch from my father's '02 lariat and that was all I needed. Everything else was installed and programmed at the factory. Plug and play and I couldn't believe it. It may be stupid to think that this may still be the case a decade later, but what the hell. You need to buy the switch anyway, right?

Please keep us updated and good luck.

The wiring is all in place. You'll need the auto headlamp switch, the light sensor, and programming from your dealer.

Auto headlight switch w/o fog:
Ford P/N: 9L3Z11654DA

Auto headlamp switch W/ fog (if you have them already):
Ford P/N: 9L3Z11654CA

Light Sensor:
Ford P/N: 7L1Z-13A018-A

The physical install is literally plug and play, and will take all of about 5 minutes. The only hard part is telling the dealer that you need to turn on the auto headlamps and making them understand.
