Nav updates

On my Xc road trip in my brand new 2014, and I get the "Incomplete map data for this area , continue with caution." warning from Betty. How do we get Nav map updates?

Haven't encountered that yet, but I wonder if the SYNC nav update actually updates the maps or just the firmware, but if you haven't done it that might be a start. You'll have to go to SYNC Technology | SYNC Support | Ford.com and sign up with an account if you haven't already and check to see if your vehicle has the updated version.

Thanks, I am registered, and it says my sync is the latest version. But I don't know if Nav is part of the sync updates or not?

It's not a nav update issue. I have been getting the same message since 2008 in my 07 and now 10 Explorer, 10 F-150 and now 13 F-250 when I go to certain parts of the UP. Even my Garmin backup will say warn of incomplete map data.

It all comes down to money that's finite. Update a big city or some sparsely populated place in the middle of nowhere. Even Google Earth gets it wrong. Call Ford and ask them how you can help them update your area. In the mean time use the link below.

Thanks for the link.

If you click on the 2012 there is an update.

None for 13/14

You know I started talking about the Nav on the truck to a friend and I just remembered in the top entertainment center console located on the dash there is a slot for an SD card. I remember reading on the update that the A3 was the older one and the A4 was the most recent. I guess if you have A4 then you have the most recent maps but am positive this is how we'll get map updates based off that card.

Best remedy is to get the new Garmin 2797 7 in screen with voice command $269 and it is much better. I have the same issue with my factory navigation and I use the Garmin with it, or by it only and if you get off your route it re directs fast before you get too far. You can voice command so much easier and use it while moving plus free lifetime map update 4 times a year. You can set destination with 1 sentence.

I just wish Ford could get a better voice recognition scenario for the prompt. Like SIRI, that's fast and accurate.
