Need some bass
I'm coming from my 2001 7.3 with a complete sound system that would rattle mine and everyone's mirrors around. I don't want this loud again, but it is weird not hearing some bass. Does anyone know a sub that will fit in the factory box, or a way to make the factory sub just a little louder without losing my rear storage spot.

Those look good, but from what I could see is I would still lose my rear seat storage.

You don't need that big a woofer, just an efficient one. Do you have the center console? Are you aware that if you lift out the two drink holders (all four cups' worth) there's a flat plate underneath? You can lift that out and there's a nice little hiding place there. Now Ford advertises it, so it's not exactly a place to hide a handgun from thieves or police. But it's a very nice place to stash a small woofer. Wiring is a snap and you just mount the woofer face down screwed to the floor under the drink holders. Remember that base frequencies disseminate in all directions so it doesn't have to be pointed at you and it doesn't have to be open like a tweeter does. It does a rather nice job for under $100.
If you don't have the console and the hidden compartment, you can mount the woofer under the dash, pointed down, behind the dash skirt. Just get it high enough so you can't kick it. Again, you don't need a big one. There are very efficient woofers now that are plenty for your truck and fit in many places and without requiring their own amp. |

I knew about the spot underneath but never thought it would be big enough for a woofer. What brands are you thinking would work? The good thing is that since it is close to the front it would give exactly what I am wanting as far as just a good tone.

SPL2k.com makes a box for a 13tw5 that goes behind the seat. It doesn't produce quite the bass response that the stealthbox provides, but it obviously blows away the stock sub by a mile. I use a jl 500/1 v2 amp. I believe he charges about 225 shipped for the box and the sub is about 400. Plus the amp, wire kit and line out converter. All told you are gonna be about a grand for that setup.
