Need to find a constant 12v power supply.

I am installing a recon extreme light bar and I need a constant hot 12v power supply. I have it all wired up on the 7 way plug on the rear but I am in need of a power supply. They say to use one coming off the ignition or a accessory terminal. I don't have the up fitter switch's, so I was just wondering what wire I need to tap into.

Why not the battery?

I have it wired into the hot wire on the 7 way plug but it's not hot. Is there something I need to do. I will have to go out later and try using the battery and see if I can get it to work.

I'd get the upfitters and the wiring harness, install that, then you can control all kinds of add ons took me 20 minutes to install it in my truck.

The 7way is only key on hot

I ended up just wiring it up straight to the battery. I had to take the original tailgate bar back because it didn't work. Got the new one installed and I don't have it hard wired up yet just the hot going to the battery, just to make sure it works. I'll get picture's up when I get it all done. Thanks for the help
