A few weeks back I was researching adding the Ford OEM nav unit to my 2012 F250 KR - another forum member referred me to sredmyer ... I reached out to Steve re: assistance with my project and we ended up speaking by phone and got the ball rolling towards what I needed to do.

This past Saturday it all came together - with Steve's expert instruction/guidance I did my install. I now have the OEM Ford nav radio, complete Sync functionality, navigation, backup camera within the nav screen ... and a bonus ... the ability to turn on the rear camera *at any time* using one of my upfitter switches.

I could could not have make this happen without Steve's assistance (and a lot of it!). Like many others here, everyone had spoken with - from Ford dealers to custom audio shops - said that it couldn't be done ... however Steve made it happen.

So a huge thank you to Steve - it is folks like him which make these boards such an invaluable resource for us all.

The cost for what Kenneth did (simply upgrade the radio to the OEM nav) ranges from about $1600 to over $2000. The cost variation is based on how much you end up paying for the nav itself and a few other options (ie. custom programming and wiring).

Let me know if you want to do the upgrade...we can talk about the options and actual costs.

I would like to know how to make the camera switchable with an upfitter switch so that I can turn it on at any time.

Hmmm......

I had the same problem when wanting to upgrade. Couldn't get any help from dealerships, radio shops, ect. I have never WANTED to give someone $2K so bad and still no help! I can not figure out why in the world it is so hard to get help from the stealership on this. It seems like pretty easy money for them!!!

I too reached out to Steve. I never heard back from him on my OEM radio , but he is very smart when it comes to the wiring and systems of our trucks. Great person and very helpful for being several states away. And his camera systems are awesome.

I ended up having to go aftermarket for mine. But still love it and my truck

I apologize for not getting back with you. I do try to get back with everyone who contacts me on these projects but I do get a LOT of PMs, emails and phone calls about these radios and the camera systems...I suppose I missed yours.
