Aftermarket HU and keeping the factory sub

Anyone know how to do this? It has it's own plug for the factory HU. 2 purple wires, a blue one, and a black. I can figure the wiring out. But has anyone done this? Can I use the pre amp outs on the HU for sound? Would like input before I go to cutting it up.

I found the unit which looks awesome BTW. I'll get the sync back with bluetooth audio and all that good stuff.

Retains Standard, Audiophile®, Shaker®, THX®, and Sony® Amplified systems

I'm guessing this is the part that means I get my sub back too?

I don't have the LCD box hooked up,some head units don't require it.I believe you said your steering wheel controls don't work(a while back). I put the axxess in mine and you have to do some splicing and I couldn't get it working. With the PAC MS-FRD1,they have a PAC SWC that plugs right in. I haven't tried it yet,let me know what you do

I tried the PAC unit for the steering wheel controls and just gave up. It got late. I'll order this soon and I'll update when I get it going. Thanks for the info.

I have a kenwood dnx7180 and a pac frd1 adapter and my factory sub doesnt work. The installer did terrible job installing it.

I have power to the sub.... no sound.

Be sure to check all your settings in the new unit. make sure sub is on ,volume is up. the sub is a stand alone speaker. you prolly know this ,but check these things first. If all that is good, then pull the HU and check all conn's on the ms-frd-1.

Ah dammit. It finally hit me... I just pulled out some JL XR componets and a JL 4 channel, and all the wiring I need. Debating on wether or not I want to do this on christmas. One year in a Bassless ride is enough for me. I'm going to have to buy some subs and a sub amp but I can get the wiring, mids and highs in the truck. My wife is going to be pissed.

Checked it all, starting to wonder if I gave a bad PAC adapter? Or the installer cut something.
