Radio Hard Drive Size?

Anyone know the capacity of the on-board Hard drive? (GB side?)
I believe it was around 2000 songs...

And for the computer guys here; anyone know the physical size & connector type for a possible upgrade to a larger drive size?

I got around 8000 songs and want them all at my fingertips.

Rob is right, but a lot of space is taken up by the software and the maps for the GPS. I don't see why it couldn't be upgraded as long as you mirror the old onto the new. Let us know how it goes.

This is all just for research; I'm too poor to own one yet (give me 1 year). All I know is:

Ford Or Nothing
Ford Or i Rather Die

Thanks for the input though. When I get my truck i'll be certain to post pics.

The other thing to keep in mind is that this song storage is not what you think it is. This hard drive does not have guys like us in mind. It isn't MP3 friendly as far as I can tell, and unless you are willing to sit in your truck and rip the songs onto the drive disc by disc, you are going to be very disappointed.

I could be wrong, and if you are brave enough to pull the stereo out and remove the drive to mount it in a PC, please let me know. I would like to see a peek at the file system myself. I'd like to see how it stores the songs to see if you could do file copy instead of a manual rip.

If so, then the next test would be to try cloning the drive and installing a bigger drive after resizing the partitions to see if it would even recognize them.

Wouldn't it just be easier to get a 32 or 64 GB Zune HD or iPod Touch?

As I understand it you can also import alot of songs into the system using a USB thumb drive. Same way you can change the nav photo from the stock Ford Oval, to whatever you want, so long as it is a .jpg, and under something like 15kb.....not 100% on the photo file size.

@hcfd63:

If you have a way to do that, I would really like to learn how. I didn't think it was possible to do a mass-import via USB. Please share any info you have on the specifics of how to do this.

Thanks,

-Rob

After reading through the SYNC and Nav Radio owners manual, it looks like you are right. The only way to get songs and mp3s into the Jukebox indash hard drive is via a CD. Looks like you can at least burn a disk, to maybe speed up the process some. End of the day I believed what the salesman said on the test drive about this feature. I am picking up my 11 F-350 KR tomorrow, end of the day I already have about all the music I could ever want on my ipod, so not a huge setback for me, but I can certainly see how this would be frustrating. It looks like SYNC (and its USB jack) is a totally separate system from the Nav head unit, which makes sense as it allows for different radios for different trim levels.
