Interior light disable feature???

Has anyone heard of a feature where interior lights and cargo lights can be disabled when opening the doors? My interior lights stopped working last week when using the switch and when the doors are opened, but work when I press the dome light itself. I brought my truck into the dealership to have it looked at and they proceeded to tell me about a sleeping baby type feature that keeps the interior lights off when the doors are opened and that I must have enabled it by mistake... an hour later I left with working lights and no mention of how to enable/disable this feature. Today I noticed they were not working again and I decided to check the owners guide, there was not a single mention of this type feature. Is the dealership covering up some type of electrical problem maybe a short etc or is this a legitimate feature? I also thought it was strange I didn't get any type of repair paperwork. Thoughts?

Did you ever get this figured out? I would like to be able to turn my dome light off sometimes when one of the doors is being opened.
I can get the dash lights to turn down, but the dome light doesn't change.
