Ticking sound from middle/rear of truck

2011 250 turbo diesel has a intermittent
ticking sound when I give it gas until I get into second gear. It also does it when coming to a stop and down shifts. Any ideas?

We just had the same problem with our brand new f450. We were coming to a hard stop with a load and when we took off from the light there was a loud popping from the rearend that eventually went away. Would like to find some answers as well.

I took in for service and the tech said it was normal, that all the new Ford 250 series do it. I am skeptical, but if something does break I will have the documentation.
