Tire chains on 20 inch tires on 2012 F350 SD?

The manual says not to use chains on 20 inch tires on the 2012 SD F350. There seems to be plenty of clearance, and I'm looking at using Super Z8 cable-type chains anyway. Has anyone had experience with this? Why does Ford say this?

I use the Super Z8's they work great. I think if you hit a bump with big chains and your wheels were turned you may hit the bumper bracket. Also the inner dia of the chains could be smaller than the wheel so the keepers could hit the wheels. Oh don't let my SoCal location fool ya. I have a place in the mountains. We had over 156" in 2009-2010.
