Need Help
My company has 3 6.4 F350's. I live in Illinois and for the past couple of days the temps have dropped to -25 to -35 degrees. Never have any trouble starting the trucks, but all 3 have died while driving in this weather. We have additive and had additive in the trucks all winter. We keep the trucks plugged in at all times when parked. Sometimes this will throw a code and sometimes it wont.
This only happens with the 6.4's not the 6.0's or our 7.3's. Why???? |

Maybe it has something to do with the type of fuel system on the 6.4's. The piezo-electric High Pressure Common Rails are finicky and appear to be effected by very cold weather and for some who use Bio-Fuel. A few possible causes could be the diesel pump actuator or high pressure common rail diesel pump. Maybe try a different type of fuel additive and see if that helps.
