No AC and then the truck wont start :(

So heres the back story. Im driving home today and my AC stopped blowing cold air. I figure (for some reason i dont know) ill turn it off and reset the computer and see if that works. I throw it in Neutral, turn it off and go to start it and nothing. Doesnt click, doesnt crank, all the lights come on and nothing. Sitting at a redlight on a busy road of course haha.

You can jump the start and the truck will run. Still no AC but the truck idles fun.

I unplugged both batteries hoping it would reset the computer and nothing.

Any ideas?

It's a communication issue. What's the build date on the truck? wet weather lately?

how long have you had the truck?

FIRST things I would do:

unplug/re-seat the large wiring harness connectors at the ECM on the firewall
unplug/reseat the large harness connectors in the driver's fender well
inspect for rubbing/chaffing of those same wiring harnesses around the shock tower in the driver's fender area and also farther forward near the radiator

this is after verifying that both batteries are good. if you have ANY reason to suspect the health/condition of the batteries, I would just put two new QUALITY batteries in it, and go from there

I got the call this morning from the shop, Its throwing code U0073 (Bus Fault) and Code 2291. The coolant was also very low. The degas bottle was empty. Looks like one of the bottles has a small leak in it.

Im thinking the fan kicked on and the AC shut off because it was warming up. I guess with these trucks they have some sort of dummy shutoff and with the bus fault code it wont let you start the truck.

the U0073 is the reason the AC shut off and it won't start. It's a communication code. It will also cause the fan clutch to engage

You have a communication issue with the truck. I listed the most common trouble spots
