AC Leaking out.

Took it to an AC shop, they said its my Evaporator Core, and it would be $900 to fix!? They put the Freon in about 2 months ago because it stopped blowing cold air, a week later it all leaked out, waited a month to go see what they would say (didnt need air really, weather was nice out) and they filled it up with Freon for $50, then said it was the Evaporator core, and that i would have air for a week or so until it drained out.

But they said its the Evaporator core, and its a pain because they have to take out my dash, and steering wheel column and stuff.

How are they sure thats what it is? They looked for leaks and couldn't find any, but then they said it was "probably under the cab"

There are ways to test it. Dye will be in the condensation. A "sniffer" in the blower box.

Check the high side shraeder valves. Ive had a ton of those leak on 6.4s
Best way to check evaporator is to add dye in refrigerant line, then run the ac for a week, then look at the a/c box drain with a dye light to see if it glows. Havent seen an evaporator leak on a 6.4, but I could see someone blaming the evaporator because of a shrader valve was overlooked.
