engine light won't go out

Cranked up the truck the other day and the engine light wouldn't go out. Took it to the dealer (no after-market tunes) and he said they didn't recognize the DTC and had no immediate fix for it. I asked him what the code was and he wouldn't give it to me. Stated Ford was researching a fix. Anyone else seen this? Thanks, Mike

That was certainly unfriendly/suspicious on their part.
Do you know anyone with a reader? It would be interesting to see the code posted up
here. Maybe someone else would recognize it.

no reader

rdc - Unfortunately I don't have a reader nor have any friends that do. I was hoping (not wishing anyone bad luck) that someone else out there may be having this same issue and could help figure it out. Thanks, Mike

try a parts store or a garage for the obdII reader to read the codes. autozone comes to mind if you have one...

they wouldn't tell you what it was!? I know you're in Alaska so this might not be possible....but can you find another dealer? Not telling you whats wrong with your truck is just plain stupid.

Dealer said they didn't know.....

The dealership would not share the DTC with me....as far as the problem, they said Ford was researching a fix for the error. The dealership didn't seem to have a clue about what is wrong with it. However, to answer your question, there are a couple other dealerships in Alaska and I may try the next closest one.

I would absolutely do that. I wouldn't trust any mechanic who was that shady. Not even to do an oil change.

X2 on going to the parts store...all of them around here will check it for free, they just can't legally clear it. just search the code they give you and let us know.
