fuel separator spunk

Hey guys i usually drain my water separator every month or so and i have never seen much water to speak of. I drain about 1/2 a pint into a Gatorade bottle sometimes i let it sit most times i dump it right away.I usually fuel up at one of 2 stations that sell a decent amount of diesel , i base that on that i have to wait in line for a truck or two each time i fill up. Well i went to drain the separator and it barely dripped out.I went to ford and was robbed of$42 for a small pack of parts, disassembled the front cover of it and after a refreshing diesel bath i got it off and found the holes on the inside were packed with a kinda whiteish goo maybe a little thinner than white lithium grease. What the hell is this chit? I have run 1 full tank with power services artic formula this season. Any ideas ?
Thanks
Mike

Its just gunk that builds up there. I also had this happen. Maybe this thread will help. Just take the cover off and clean all that crap out.

Mine has done the same thing 2x in 70000 miles. I drain it weekly but still happened. I think it must just be stuff filtered from the fuel. It is aggrevating though.

I had a light tan slurry and chunkies come out of mine the last time I drained it. I shot alot of brake cleaner into the hole and more came out! I sprayed until no more chunkies came out. I let it sit for about 20 minutes to dry then reinstalled the plug.
