Buying a new truck, need opinions

Ok, So i currently have an 03 6.0L f350 that i love but its a regular cab, with lots of rust and has been killing my wallet the past few years, im looking at either an 05 to 07 6.0L or an 08 6.4 because thats really what my budget will allow. Now i know what im getting into with the 6.0 but not so much with the 6.4, is the 6.4 a wise investment or am i setting myself up for a disaster?

Also i live in Mass and an 07 or older diesel is emissions exempt, what needs to be done to the 6.4 to eliminate the DEF and have it pass emissions?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Given your circumstances, i'd get a newer 6.0, you already know how to deal with their issues, and you're better off not having to get it to pass emissions. Keeping a 6.4 emissions compliant is gonna cost you just as much or more than bulletproofing a 6.0
