Question Metal shard stuck to oil drain plug 6.4

Have a 09 6.4 (F350) and got the dealer to change the engine oil at 82000km. A metal shard about 1/2 size of your thumb nail and little less than an 1/8" thick. The dealer had no advice to give. No other metal was on the plug.

Anyone have any ideas on where this might have come from. The engine has no issues and is regularly maintained.

Hmmm guess this is not common

Do you think this is a warranty issue?

Well they won't look into it under warranty (1 month left). However the bed plate has a small leak so they may take it off to fix leak (20 hr job yikes!) then take a peek to see if any visible damage in the lower end.
