I've owned this 2008 f250 since new, it currently had 79k miles. It's had the dpf removed for probably 4yrs and the egr blocked for about 8months. Recently while driving down the highway I lost a turbo (sounded like one touched down). I had the truck towed to a local shop and had them replace both turbos with a complete (stock) setup from bd diesel. They also recommended doing a wastegate since the egr is blocked, so I put the Maryland external wastegate setup on at the same time. Got the truck back and now it's smoking like crazy! I figured when the old turbo died it would do a good job of coating the exhaust (and possibly intake) with a decent amount of oil. But this thing is out of hand! Today I started the truck and let it idle for 20mins and it literally dumped 3/4 or so of s qt of liquid oil out of the exhaust.
I'm wondering if I got a new turbo with a junk seal, or if there is a bigger (motor) problem. The truck runs very strong, idles smooth as ever, hasn't thrown any codes. Any ideas? Thanks for your time and input!!
