6.4 newb with low boost question

Guys i have an 08 6.4 that i just got a month ago. One thing i notice is that some times when i get on the throttle it seems sluggish 20psi on the guage. Other times it goes up to 30psi and really scoots. I have no codes or noticable problems. Am I missing something? It is totally stock for now. Can the vgt get stuck and not throw a code?

next time it does it run a system check. most likely going thru dpf cleaning.

^agreed. I'm only a year into this but the only other sluggish problem I have encountered was when I had a cracked up pipe. You'd know it though, loud hissing under the hood was my give away! Get rid of that dpf and you'll be very happy!
