Truck hunting and suggestions

Alright so heres the deal, i currently have an 03 6.0L and love the truck, however im having tranny issues and just dont feel like fixing it considering all the rust the truck has. Now obviously im aware of all the issues of the 6.0L but ive read some kinda serious issues with the 6.4 as well. My question is, should i pick up an 07 6.0L or pick up a 6.4, i know this is dominantly the 6.4 forums but id like to hear some opinions. Also, does anyone happen to know if you can delete the DPF and still pass inspection in Massachusetts? The other reason for trading in my truck is its a reg cab and im gonna need more room in the not to distant future and figured now would be a good time to get a supercab. any inputs are greatly appreciated.

thanks for the suggestions guys, guess ill stick with the 6.0L's. great trucks and those guys seem to be a bit more helpful....hate to say it but the import crowd is a lot friendlier and open to helping people out.

09 or 10 6.4 should be all set to go for you hopefully without major issues. A lot of guys get around emissions by getting the delete pipe and putting it back to stock just for the test then right back to the delete pipe after you pass. I think a lot the bad problems were earlier. You wont find much better than this forum, it must have just got lost maybe around some other more interesting topics.

6.4 hands down. I traded up from an 04 6.0 to an 08 6.4. The 6.4 makes huge power numbers with simple bolt on parts. Both are good motors but maintenance is the biggest issue. I'd go for the newer truck with updated styling in this case.

I went from a 04 f250 xlt 4x4 cc 6.0 to a 08 f350 4x4 cc KR with a 6.4. I bought it with 86k on it. I love the power of the 6.4 but my old 04 got way better MPGS. My 08 is all stock.

yea i know this is a fairly good site for ford diesels, i do like the site.Im just torn between another 6.0L or going 6.4, what makes me nervous is i know around here my 6.0L is emissions exempt, and i know the issues with a 6.0L. the 6.4's are really nice looking though. if i can get a good deal on a 6.4 ill go that route, but im definitely gonna wait till summer when the truck prices go down... they only offered my 7k for my 03 6.0L xlt reg cab with 95k and a plow, and its in pretty good shape with the exception of the cross members on the bed...
