Airaid 400-214 and SES light on one day later.

My younger brother came over yesterday so we could both look at his F-350 Super Duty 4X4 because he is going on a long trip out west.

We pull his stock air filter out...clogged horribly. Call around, Autozone, Advanced Auto...no one had the filter. Being that we live 15 minutes from a large performance shop in Ohio, I did a quick look and they had a Airaid 400-214 kit. We pick it up, the install was cake and only took maybe 20 minutes.

All is well until this morning he calls and says his SES light is now on. I tell to make sure nothing came off and everything is snug still. Everything looks fine to him and I told him to make sure the MAF sensor looks fine.

Minus reseting the batteries to see if this is a fluke...anyone else have a similar problem with the kit? I just find it ironic that the day after we swap it he gets the SES?

He did say the truck feels a lot better...but just replacing the filter could have done that....

This will happen. I am a master certified ford diesel tech. The pcm can actually see the air flow difference and it tricks the pcm into thinking that there is a problem when there actually isn't. The only fix is to go back to a factory air filter. Clearing the light at the dealership is not warranty, there is a message about it. All aftermarket air filters will do this.
