New member with limp mode question

So I bought a 2008 f250 powerstroke on Tuesday. As I was headed home the truck went into limp mode. I took it right back to the dealer and they are saying the fuel filter cap was broken and the fuel pump seal was leaking. Would this cause the truck to go into limp mode? This is my first time owning a diesel. I am trying to get some sort of peace of mind about this purchase! Thanks!

Yes, those conditions could cause limp mode because of improper fuel system pressurization and air leaking into the system. Not sure how much difficulty would be involved with replacing the pump seal, but the filter cap should be fairly easy I would think.
