EGR cooler line

Well my egr hose that goes into the egr cooler tube has been nothing but problems. The hose just keeps getting real soft and leaks. So I go the the dealer to get the hose since its molded and I wanted it to look factory. Well they no longer use the job1 egr valves. A $12 hose turns out that I need to buy a new egr valve without the coolent fittings. They want $245 for the valve and I just can't see myself buying it. Can I just take the coolant lines off and cap the stock egr nipples? And also my truck has been acting weird lately but not throwing Any codes. If I'm cruising and get on it a little to pass and the rpms come back down the truck starts to hop a few times then goes back to normal. Anyone know whats causing it? Im running the Spartan 275 tunes. Also every now and again when I shut the truck off it sounds like the turbo or something is grinding or something while winding down. Truck only has 65k miles.
