When I turn the wheel it applies the brakes??

Ok so I was driving down the road a little bit ago and I went to push the brakes.. They felt like the abs kicked on kinda and then I had NO power steering and the brakes felt WEIRD... I then shut it off and restarted and tried to turn out and take off. NO way, the brakes we locked... I cant turn the wheel at all or it locks the brakes. I can visibly watch the brake pedal being pushed towards the floor when I turn the wheel and the power steering isnt working for S**T......
Any ideas at all? I also hear a hissing noise coming from the plunger from the brake.. I am very confused.

X2 on this. I just purchased an 08 thursday and driving it home from texas to ohio i had went into a hard braking and brakes engaged then while applying the brake pad it released on its own then reapplied. Also while this whole ordeal was happening the power steering completely dissappears and it is like turning 86" tires with no power steering.... i heard that it might be a master cylinder bc they may be tied together. Anyone know about this happening?

Wanted to let u know mine turned out to be a faulty hydro boost unit and I had to purchase a new one. BUT DONT BUY IT FROM ford. They wanted like 590 for it I got it on southwestfordparts.com for 260 something.

Hey ice, how hard was the hydroboost to swap out?

When I was at the dealer, the adviser wasn't sure whether we needed the hyro boost system with brake controller or without brake controller. Is that in reference to the trailer brake control?

It wasn't too bad to do really.. A little tight smaller hands help! Yes from whatso was told that's what the reference is for. I got he one with the brake controller... Everything works as it should!
