6.4 EGR delete and coolant hoses question

I recently did the EGR delete on my 6.4... I don't have any pictures so just bare with me.

The guy who did the EGR delete cut the Venturi T off, (because the hose to the EGR valve is pointless now) and he just has the one hose coming from the bottom outlet of the degas bottle (top outlet is capped off by some rubber thing) ..

Is this fine? I'm assuming the bottom outles hose is just an overflow?

Thanks

That is the way my truck is also. That hose i believe comes from the heater core. That is the hose you tee into if you buy a coolant filter. I moved the hose to the top one so i cann see if my coolant filter is plugged. Hope this helps

So you plugged the bottom outlet and moved the hose to the top? I thought about doing that as well.

Ya. Mostly so i can make sure coolant is coming out of the hose so i know my coolant filter isnt plugged. It doesnt matter which one is plugged i dont think.

how much flow comes out there and can you tell when the filter is getting plugged? I thought once the filter is full the coolant will still flow thru but not filter....im probably wrong but if you can tell a difference im going to move mine over today

I get a steady flow of coolant. Once the filter is plugged not much comes out of the hose. Another way to tell is touch the return line. If the line is hot the filter is working. If the line is cool or not very hot the filter is plugged.

Also since i flushed the coolant system and filled with the ELC the coolant filter stays clean. I think i got most of the junk out.
