exhaust filter cleaning system

What's up with the regen system on these 6.4's my truck only has about 6400 miles on it and it's seems like it cleans the exhaust every 15 or 20 miles and today stayed on for about 10 miles

What's your driving style? Hard or easy on it?
Highway or city?
Does it ever get up to operating temp and stay there?
Once the regen starts is it allowed to finish?
More idling or driving time?

Pretty easy on it started cold today took off and drove to work about 20 miles and it seemed like it regened for most of the trip

Since a regen is injecting diesel on the exhaust stroke in order to heat up the exhaust hot enough to burn out the DPF, it needs to be allowed to get pretty warm during a regen cycle, not just easy driving and it needs to be allowed to finish if at all possible. Otherwise it'll just keep trying and trying until it finally finishes.

Thanx man not use to all these fancy bells and whistles my 99 7.3 I just traded in didn't have all that stuff just rattled a lil puffed the black smoke and rolled on

While the truck is regening, does it smoke?
