How often into regen?

This 08 450 goes into high idle mode a couple times per week. Is that not too much? We only run the ULS diesel in it so it's not the fuel. Seems like I read on here where they only do it about every 3k miles. This one doesn't get close to 3 k miles before going crazy.

It depends on your style of driving. Stop and go traffic, you'll do it more. Regen is dependent on pressure, temperature and drive cycles.

This truck is not being driven on the interstates much. Rather, it's being driven on 2 lane mountain roads with not many traffic lights. So, I wouldn't say much stop and go either. It hasn't pulled much so far but does get driven hard on occasion.

Thanks for the info.

Mine went into regen at about 700 miles for 1.5 hrs and again at 2500 miles for 20 minutes and hasn't done it since but my DPF must be defective as I can blow black smoke easily on acceleration of just sitting at a traffic light and hitting the fuel with the brakes on.

Regen is only on the new 2008 6.4... It's where they burn on of the buildup in the particulate filter...

Regen is suppose to happen every 400 to 700 hundred miles depending upon driving style

This has been my experience so far. It was closer to every 700 before I lifted my truck and now after the lift it's closer to every 400 miles.

Our truck goes into regen once a day if my brother drives and about every two days with me driving. Thats anywhere from 100-200 miles. But, it is towing a minimum of 14Klbs every day. When we pull our 18klb backhoe, i can guarantee it will hit regen when we pull back onto the lot. Have ya'll ever held a plastic drink bottle up to the exhaust when it's in regen? Cool stuff!
