6.4 No Start, No Crank -- Everything fine, now Nothing!
My close friend has a 2008 F250 6.4L with 32K miles that is stuck at a jobsite currently because this evening when he went to leave, the truck wouldn't start...wouldn't even crank over. He got in, waited for glow plugs, then tried to crank...NOTHING, no attempt to crank. The passive anti-theft system light is flashing on the dash rapidly now too. If you wait for 30-45 secs the flashing slows down. We tried using both of his keys, no luck. We tried to jump the starter directly from battery on the passenger side (used plug by pass battery and air intake box. It would crank crank crank constantly, but never start. Check the fuel, not gelled. Truck has been fine without any issues ever! The truck does have a DPF delete AFE exhaust system with all DPF sensors plugged in and installed in the exhaust system. The truck is tuned by a H&S Black Maxx tuner and has been for probably 8-10 months (approx 7-10K miles). Never one issue. Now all of a sudden this. One odd thing is the Black Maxx tuner will power on, but that is it. Nothing is working/functioning on the tuner. Try to press a button and nothing. Display is powered on, but showing nothing at all gauges wise or anything. Since the Black Maxx will not function, we have no way to check the DTCs, read or clear them. All of this just happened about 5:30pm this evening and we have tried everything we could think of and that we have found by searching on here. It's too late to contact H&S tonight but we will in the morning. Tried to disconnect both batteries for a few minutes, no help. Anyone have any ideas at all? Any suggestions? Possible high pressure fuel pump? ECM? PCM? Any thoughts before we have to tow the truck to the dealer with all the exhaust and Black Maxx on it? Sure that will not help warranty coverage! haha. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
