Odd idle?

Towed about 8,000 lbs of Hardie board Friday morning as I was unhooking the trailer I let the truck idle. Every so often exhaust note would change and sounded like turbo was spooling slightly. Is this just turbo cooldown? MY egt's never got any were near overly hot though.

I don't know the details, but I know at least some of the 6.0's did what you are describing and it is supposed to be the EGR cycling. My buddies truck will do it all the time. Not sure if it might be the same thing on the 6.4 or not.

I bet its the VGT cycling on the turbo. The ISX cummins in are work trucks do that at idle to keep the mechanism from sticking

Your signature says your Spartan tuned and DPF deleted. Spartan tunes cycle the EGR valve at idle to keep them from sticking shut. Nothing to worry about ,mine does it too.

Yep, Black maxx tuned and mine does the same thing. Cycles the vanes think. Anyone get a kind of grumble noise when you let off the gas. Happens for a few seconds and then engine idles normal???
