Ball joints.......$1100?!?!?!?!?

Anyone else ever heard of or been charged $1100 to replace all 4 front ball-joints on a 2wd??? Sounds F-ing outrageous to me, just wondering if anyone else has heard of this.

First, Welcome to the org.

Second, what all does that come with? Ball joints, alignment?

Third, I'd shop around - I had right side only upper/lower BJs replaced, reman calipers, pads and rotors turned on BOTH sides with an alignment check for around $650. My truck is a 4x4.

Ok, so a little looking into this price (my mom got the quote for me, I'm in Afghan).....

$533.28 - all 4 ball joints
$480 - labor
$49.95 - alignment

This was at a Midas shop, but apperently the Ford dealer quoted her about the same.....

Book time is 6 hrs. for a 4x4. 4x2 should take less time considering no axle removal is required. Also doesn't require all the seals that a 4x4 requires. You can buy all new MOOG ball joints for $300 or less from an auto parts store. Check around before paying that kind of money.

This doesn't apply to your ball joint issue but, how do you like the Banks IQ? Care to post some pics. sometime? I'm jut curious how those look and compare to the PDA I use to have.

Yeah, I could do that. It will be mid-March before I'm around my truck again, but I'll post pictures as soon as I can. I love it, it's a piece of cake. But there are updates that I need to download and apply them....so we'll see how that goes.
